Under the boardwalk

Back to the beach and this time it´s a pseudo HDR that I tried to get to look as non-HDR as possible. It is however easier said than done...

Very interesting composition, it makes me wonder if you are standing in the water to take this? I love the view out to the dramatic clouds, did you capture this with HDR? The exposure is excellent, Looks great!

@Kylie Greenan: Yes, I did stand in the water but it was just 20 cm deep... It is a single capture converted into a pseudo HDR, a trick that sometimes creates nice results. Thanks for your comment! /Peter

@gbe: HDR - High Dynamic Range. Very briefly, a true HDR image is composed of several bracketed exposures of an object. This makes the composite dynamic range greater , i.e. the range of values between shadows and highlights. I don´t know anything about the algorithms used but this technique can produce some striking results. This image is a pseudo HDR created from just one exposure so there really is no additional information but the algorithm that is used can create an image reminiscent of a true HDR. Yes I know wut u mean there ive done the samething to one of my picture http://xus.aminus3.com/portfolio/14.html I love the final result of your pic. As you said it isnt that easy to create a high dynamic range with 1 exposure but worth the effort

@jean-sebastien: I checked your image and it´s a nice one; pseudo HDR is sometimes well worth the effort as you point out. I do however think that the trick is to utilize the increased dynamic range without creating too much artefacts such as halo effects. Also, HDR does not handle clouds too well in my opinion.
