Saviour by the seaPosted by Peter Mannfolk (Landskrona, Sweden) on 19 August 2008 in Landscape & Rural. Well, don´t know what to say about this one other than that I´m pleased with how it turned out... Comments, anyone?

Vincent Bertrand from Montréal, CanadaVery studied composition, very well done. I tend to think there's a lot of photoshop treatment and HDR going on, and, to me, it ruins the general appreciation a bit. I still like it, but I can't help wonder what it'd look like with less post-production gear. 19 Aug 2008 5:28am @Vincent Bertrand: As always, I do not try to convey any "truth" in my images. For me it´s all about interpretation by means of the original composition/exposure combined with post processing. That said, I appreciate and fully agree that post processing sometimes can be just too much. In my case that may certainly be the truth but I enjoy the post processing part of creating a finished image and that is - for an amateur photograph - very important. Jim from Hunnebostrand, SwedenYou should be pleased. It's a bold image--both in its composition and presentation. I like it a lot. 19 Aug 2008 7:31am Fabien from Lyon, FranceJ'aime beaucoup l'ambiance. Le traitement ne me choque pas, il sert le message. Donc c'est bon pour moi. 19 Aug 2008 7:45am Jason Kravitz from Brussels, BelgiumI'd be pleased as well - the dark tones and desaturation create a nice moody image and the red in the life preserver adds a good splash of color. Thinking about Vincent's comment - it might be nice to see a more natural version of this photo just for comparison... 19 Aug 2008 8:38am @Jason Kravitz: I´ve added a comment on the suggestion regarding a more natural version as an answer to Vincent's comment. Thanks Jason, your comment is appreciated! /Peter Rui from Leiria, PortugalVery well. The desaturated colors work very well, creating a surreal mood. 19 Aug 2008 12:03pm bm from Budapest, Hungaryyou could well be pleased. fantastic colors and composition, great use of the extra wide angle. 19 Aug 2008 1:26pm Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaVery nice! Looks like we're about to be swept out to sea. 19 Aug 2008 5:06pm Toomaj from Tehran, Iranimpressive, maybe the artistic retouching has made it such a surprising contrast and feeling 19 Aug 2008 7:24pm Walter from Watkinsville, United StatesJust found your blog and am excited to see what you are going to do next. I like your response to Jason and Vincent's comments. You received their thoughts and expressed your own. As a new poster, I am also looking for true feelings about the photos I produce so I can grow in my photographic endeavors. 20 Aug 2008 2:27am Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesI would be delighted if this is something my camera had taken. It's very good. The POV, colors, lighting and shapes together make for a very catchy visual melody. 22 Aug 2008 2:10pm |
