Chaotic

This is an hour old, the weather today has been somewhat chaotic, as is the sky in this image. OK, as usual I boosted the contrast but the colours are pretty much as they were captured by the camera.

That's just a terrific shot, Peter!... an absolutely gorgeous sky resulting from an unstable but cooperative air mass! Really love the fiery highlights. The earth-toned foreground with those contrasting trees really adds to the ambiance of this image. Thoughtfully composed and perfectly executed... a real blue ribbon shot! And I say if tweaking the contrast made the image look closer to what you saw with your eye, then tweak away! Thanks for sharing your wonderful picture with us!

The sky really is impressive here. Complex and foreboding and in such contrast to the gentle curves and slopes of the terrain. (To my eye though, the ground looks a bit flat and muddy colour- and sharpness-wise, especially in contrast with the sky.)

@Jim (365,000 words): Yes, the foreground was underexposed in order to avoid blowing the highlights, which resulted in a noise problem. So, trying some denoising made the whole thing slightly blurred instead. A classic problem... Thanks for your comment Jim! /Peter
